Termite Inspection
These wood-destroying insects and organisms can cause serious issues in the wooden structural sections of a house and may go undetected for an extended period. Subterranean termites are the most harmful insects to wood. Their existence is hard to perceive, and damage usually is found first, before the termites are discovered. Prevent infestations, because if they occur, they will frequently need a professional pest-control service.
Signs of Infestation
Hire Level 7 Property Inspections to inspect for termites or other wood-destroying organisms. The first sign of infestation is the presence of crowding termites on the window or near indoor light. If they are found inside the house and property, it inevitably means that there is or was an infestation. Other signs that may be found are termite wings on windowsills or in cobwebs, and shelter tubes, which are tunnels constructed by the termites from soil or wood and debris. Wood damage is not found at first, but when it is found, it reveals a termite infestation. Anywhere wood touches soil is an entry into a home for termites. Check wood which sounds dull or hollow when struck by a stick. Inspect suspected areas with a sharp, pointed tool, such as an ice pick, to find termite galleries or their damage.
The Inspection
We inspect closely to find out if there is an infestation, destruction, and/or conditions that could summon a termite attack, or the need for remedial control measures. The tools and equipment needed for an inspection include a flashlight, ice pick or sharp-pointed screwdriver, ladder, and protective clothing. Many inspectors use a customized tool which is essentially a hook at the end of a pole to help pull back insulation in a basement or crawlspace area to check the wood structure behind it.
Termite Control
Termite control measures include reducing the potential infestation, preventing termite entry, and applying chemicals for remedial treatment. Most people will tell you that they do not have termite problems mainly because they are not clearly visible on the surface. Remember that termites work from the inside to the outside. If you can see visible signs of damage, your problem is deeper than the surface. Protect your home and properties today by having a professional Termite inspection from a Level 7 Property Inspector.
